A Conspiracy to Transfer Credit and Benefits

Beginning Summer 2013, Tiffany Gray prepared for her presentation at the 45th SICCGTC's student competition. Christian Barrientos prepared his own work to present in that year's regular session.

Minion returned to Clayton State University on November 11, 2013. She was fired from Dekalb County Public Schools for being aggressive towards students. She described her several violent outbursts in classrooms full of majority Black students. Minion told Gray that Dekalb County "accidentally" fired her and that she returned to Clayton State in the interim to see if there were any research opportunities to strengthen her portfolio.

Clayton State University, Christian Barrientos, Sarah Minion, Anthony Giovannitti, Lila Roberts, and Tim Hynes did conspire to transfer the credit for Gray's work. Their strategy was to, first, blend the efforts of Barrientos and Gray. This created an ambiguous environment by which recognition of contribution was shuffled. The resulting paper was given to Clayton State University employee Sarah Minion to practice for the 2014 SICCGTC student competition at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida.

Minion was given explicit instructions to present all current findings as her own work. Minion did not credit Gray for her contribution at any time during her presentation. Minion contributed ZERO intellectual property to either effort: Gray's nor Barrientos's. Barrientos introduced Minion to the president of the ICA as the student responsible for discovering the method to order the tessellated structures (The Gray Method).

Before their return flight to Atlanta, Georgia. Minion and Barrientos expressed to the airline stewardess that Gray posed a threat to the pair. As a result, Gray's seating arrangement was changed from her arranged window seat to a seat in the back of the plane near the Air Marshall. Barrientos and Minion were seated in the front of the plane. After landing, Gray was followed by the Air Marshall until she retrieved her suitcases and entered a vehicle which waited for her outside of the terminal.
